The initial No More Room in Hell 2 Steam launch did not go to plan – in fact, even now, some six months later, Torn Banner's zombie game sequel is still lumbered with a damning 'mixed' rating, based on reviews. Comparing it to the lauded No More Room in Hell 1, players have shared criticisms regarding NMRiH 2's inventory, combat systems, and a perceived lack of general polish. But with Dying Light The Beast and State of Decay 3 on the way, and Project Zomboid getting bigger and better thanks to build 42, Torn Banner isn't taking matters lying down. The biggest No More Room in Hell 2 update ever has just arrived, and you can now play the entire game for free.
Slowly but surely, FPS, up to eight players are sent into undead-infested maps to rescue civilians, gather resources, and complete missions. The majority of criticism so far has been towards melee combat and item management. The new 'Reanimation' update, the biggest in NMRiH 2's history, addresses those core complaints.
First up, the radial inventory system from the first game is back. In of combat, you can now perform directional melee attacks, strong attacks, and charge attacks. Difficulty has been tweaked across the board and No More Room in Hell's 2 stamina system has been entirely rebalanced.
There are new weapons in the form of the meat cleaver and the longer-range, two-handed tree trimmer, and when creating a fresh character, if you have enough match-earned credits you can now reroll them until you get your preferred base version. More significantly, No More Room in Hell 2 now has two extra maps.
Both are designed as close-quarters urban arenas; in Pottsville, each player spawns separate from one another, and you need to regroup before you can start rescuing civilians and picking clean the various, randomized houses. Lewiston is similar, except you spawn in groups, and the goal is to simply grab whatever you can and safely get out.
