You might the original concept trailer for ILL, which did the rounds back in 2021. It's an FPS. You're in a narrow hallway of a dilapidated, post zombie outbreak apartment block. The infected former residents stagger towards you, oozing thick red goop from their eyes and mouths. You blow them apart with a double-barreled shotgun. Some of the original s of that trailer have millions of views; slow, scary, and boasting extremely detailed monsters and gore, ILL's other early trailers make it look like a mix of Half-Life, Resident Evil, and Stalker. But barring a few small, sporadic updates, the FPS has been quiet for a while – that is until now, when a new teaser suggests ILL could appear in full at the Summer Game Fest.
In 2022, new teaser image for ILL suddenly arrived, and since then, new videos and teasers have been released at a more regular pace. Three weeks ago, on Thursday May 1, Team Clout ed a song by composer Alon Mor that is reportedly part of ILL's score. Now, the developer has posted a very short but potentially telling new clip.
'Got a hunch?' lasts all of eight seconds. It shows ILL's protagonist running down a corridor and what appears to be the shadow of a monster lurking around the corner. But then it cuts to an image of three people holding flags, performing semaphore, the visual telegraphing system often used at railways and airports.
Over on Resetera, one , 'Wafflebrain,' has collated observations from would-be ILL fans, and notes that the semaphoric expressions spell out the word 'six.' That alone might not seem like much, but the 'Got a hunch?' teaser has just been retweeted by Geoff Keighley, organizer and host of the annual Summer Game Fest. And when does Summer Game Fest 2025 begin? Friday June 6.
So, we have a new teaser, which contains the number six, and it's been shared by the host of a major gaming event which begins on the sixth day of the sixth month – that is, next week. Maybe it's mere optimism, but perhaps ILL will make an appearance at SGF's titular showcase. We'll have to see.
