How many times have you completed Half-Life 2? In the 21 years (yeesh) since Valve's genre-changing FPS game was first released, I'd speculate that I've destroyed the Citadel, escaped City 17, and launched the rocket from White Forest on no fewer than 30 occasions. Maybe that says something about me; maybe we really, really need Half-Life 3. Nevertheless, after more than two decades, there's an alternative way to experience Gordon Freeman's post-apocalyptic odyssey – except it doesn't involve Gordon Freeman at all. If you haven't heard of Lambda Fortress before, the iconic mod is finally coming to Steam, and lets you play Half-Life 2 like you never have before.
Created by Coaxion, a hobbyist studio of some 30 developers and modders, the power of Lambda Fortress is twofold. First, it lets you play FPS game, Team Fortress 2.

Whether it's the Spy or the Heavy, the Soldier or the Scout, you get all their gear and weapons, and can even use your own, personal TF2 inventory. If you've spent a decade building and outfitting your ideal Demoman and want to see how he'd fare against the antlions, the Striders, and Ravenholm, Lambda Fortress is the mod for that.
And while it's been available via various third-party platforms for years, it's finally coming to Steam. Coaxion doesn't have a release date yet, but it clarifies that, as well as Half-Life 2, Lambda Fortress will work with other games that use Valve's original Source engine. The Steam version will also introduce some new weapons, and there will be custom game modes and for more campaigns in the future. If you want to wishlist Lambda Fortress on Steam, just go here.
